The Telecare IV was an integrated defibrillator, EKG printout, and EKG scope. It also featured one of the industries first portable digital readout direct blood pressure measuring capability. Options for this unit included an integrated UHF GE telemetry/voice radio with headset that was low-wattage and designed to work thorugh a vehicle repeater. The device was manufactured in the 70's by the Telecare Inc. of Houston, Texas. The first unit were Telecare II's which were housed in a white casing and had most of these capabilities. The Houston Fire Department was the first large city ambulance service to begin field testing the Telecare in 1973 and also used the Telecare IV in the late 80's.
