Moped

NYC*EMS utilized Moped responses during the Transit Strike in 1980, in order to penetrate the unusually heavy traffic caused by the strike.

This concept was later expanded with the purchase of 3 wheel Cushman Scooters, capable of securing additional patient care equipment. They were routinely utilized at mass gatherings and summer patrol of the boardwalks.

Cushman, Gator

FDNY*EMS obtained several Gators to navigate the unusually large crowd expected in Times Square which welcomed the new milllenium on New Years Eve 1999.

These 6 wheel vehicles were ideal, as they could also transport the patient to a treatment area. The Gators replaced the Cushmans and  have been used at the World Trade Center site, for summer beach patrol on Coney Island and the Rockaways, as well as at mass gatherings.
